Rahul’s “Wealth Redistribution Plan”: Why you should be worried?
Yesterday, I was talking to a good friend about Congress’s manifesto and the wealth redistribution plan that Rahul Gandhi spoke about at several election rallies. My friend laughed it off.
His exact comment was, “You should analyze Zimbabwe’s chances of winning the next T20 World Cup rather than discussing this. There is a higher chance of that happening. Let’s not waste our time discussing something that will never happen.” We ended the conversation there. Is this a matter to be laughed off? Is there a reason to worry?
Firstly, I assume you all have heard about the wealth redistribution plan promised by Rahul Gandhi if and when they come into power. No? Well, at least in two viral videos, he said that he wants to redistribute the wealth through a nationwide caste-census and wealth/financial survey.
Based on what he has said, this should involve the following:.
- Carry out a caste census.
- Conduct a wealth survey/financial survey.
- Once they have the wealth details, his government will “redistribute this wealth”. He says that the redistribution will be done “depending on the share deserved by each individual.
- How will they determine the share? It could be based on family size and the number of children. It could also be based on the religion that you come from. It could also be based on the caste that you come from (this way they continue to keep the majority community further divided). The larger the family, the higher the share of that family would be. So basically, this wealth will be distributed to those with more children (Narendra Modi mentions this in his speech).
- It is obvious that the community with the highest number of children will get the maximum share.
- Which community has more children? Which community is growing faster than other communities? You know the answer! (Narendra Modi mentions this in his speech.)
- In 2006, Manmohan Singh said that Muslims have the first claim to our resources.
Clearly, Rahul Gandhi only seems to be following what the Congress has always done! Provide more benefits to ‘minorities.’
Minority Appeasement: Since 1947
If the Indian National Congress were a corporate brand, its tagline would be “Minority Appeasement: Since 1947.” The Congress manifesto has an entire page dedicated to minorities (see the image).
They have provided these benefits and privileges to minorities for the last 70 years. Clearly, they failed in “uplifting” them. They want to continue what didn’t work for 70 years. Why would they do that? Yes, the consolidated minority vote bank.
While providing these benefits, will they consider the family size or the number of children? I am sure they will not! Once again, the higher the number of children, the higher the benefits they will receive. Isn’t this what Narendra Modi mentioned in his “controversial” speech?
Desh Ka X-Ray
Let’s come back to the ‘wealth redistribution plan’. Should we worry? Those of us who work hard and earn money pay taxes, which are redistributed for the welfare of the poor. This is also wealth redistribution. But Rahul Gandhi wants to take it several steps further.
He says that they will conduct a nationwide ‘X-ray.’ Through this, they will determine which segment or community possesses Hindustan’s wealth. His exact words were ‘Hindustan ka dhan, kaunse varg ke hath mein hain’. He says that once they know where the wealth is concentrated, they will begin ‘Krantikari kaam’ (anarchist work). He declares that he would target that segment of the population where the wealth is concentrated and then redistribute it among “those who deserve it”.
Could a future Congress-led central government seize our hard-earned money and redistribute it to others?
It is quite possible. Have you heard of the land reforms of the 1960s and 1970s? This primarily happened in West Bengal, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Yes, the communist state governments in West Bengal and Kerala led these ‘reforms.’ Lands that belonged to landlords were seized and handed over to the tillers. What has happened is history, and there is no point in analyzing what happened at that time. But what we must do is take lessons from our past.
Governments that follow Marxist ideologies can and will take such draconian measures once again. And Congress is openly saying that it will do it. This means that people like you and me will slog it out day and night to take care of our families and secure our lives. But then, one fine morning, the government could come in and say that all that wealth is no longer ours.
I am not painting a dystopian future here. But this is exactly what Rahul Gandhi is talking about.
How do we respond?
There is only one way to respond to this right now. And that means exercising your right to vote. Take a pledge that you will never vote for a party that wants to perpetually keep our society divided based on caste, religion, and economic status. Take a pledge that you will never vote for Congress.
Take a pledge that you will vote and bring Narenda Modi back with a bigger majority.
With a huge majority, Modi 3.0 will be in a position to implement sweeping reforms in the country to secure our future generations. And for this, the next government needs to have a 2/3rd majority in both houses. And this is why we should give Narendra Modi 400 seats.
